Hands down the best cooler I’ve ever used. Bought this for camping trips etc. Took it on its maiden voyage to the Smoky Mountains last month and it was kept indoors. I pre chilled the cooler with 40 pounds of ice on a Tuesday morning at approx 10am. Packed the cooler with food and drinks the next night and the cooler held solid chunks of ice and was still full to the top through Sunday afternoon. 6+ days of easily holding 30+ lbs of ice no problem. Well worth it and will never have to buy another one.

Hands down the best cooler I’ve ever used. Bought this for camping trips etc. Took it on its maiden voyage to the Smoky Mountains last month and it was kept indoors. Awesome cooler. We took it immediately camping with us for 5 days after getting it. Pre chilled the cooler the night before. Packed it up the next morning, and drain anything that might have melted. Topped it up full of ice, and we’re more than happy with our new cooler. Kept all our food nice and cold despite the outside summer the entire trip. Got home and my in-laws refrigerator gave out, and they borrowed this cooler for the week while waiting for the new fridge to be delivered. So we’ve given a good first use to see how it would do. Like all my other Pelican products this one is no different, exceptional quality!!!

Had the old model and decided to upgrade. Seems like a sturdy built cooler. Was a little worried because description said “70 Quart” but picture showed a 50. All said and done it’s the right cooler for a great price. Would definitely recommend.

UPDATE: Lured from the woods by the falling temperature and the fragrant gourmet cheese inside, a curious black bear spent about 15 minutes attempting to open my 70qt cooler. I was awakened at 2am in my camper to the sound of him dragging it across the gravel camp site. He was completely undeterred by my flash light and verbal protests, instead focused on opening this trove of edible delights. Unsuccessful, he moved on to an easier meal, I found out the next day he located a lesser cooler a few camp sites away and absolutely shredded it and consumed all contents. The only damage sustained by my cooler was a few scratches, bite marks, and a couple broken eggs.

Putting warm items in will increase the overall temperature of the interior and melt your ice. Don't drain all the water or open it too often, I like to pack it with meal items and try to only open when it's time to cook. This gets me the most life out of my ice. I use a cheaper cooler for beer and drinks that will get opened all the time. I added the basket to keep certain things that don't have water tight packages out of the water.
