Write a review on this awesome tent! We are in Texas near South Padre Island- we chose the Clam to use as a screen tent for inclement weather. This February has brought extremes to this area of Texas! Last week we were amazed that the tent remained standing when we had 35 mph winds come up! We opened the flaps and the flexibility was amazing— while we debated taking it down we quickly realized it would blow away if we tried and were certainly surprised when it was in perfect condition after the winds died down. Fast forward a week and last night the temperature dropped below freezing, it was icing outside, power went out and the winds were 25 mph— our travel trailer was rocking like crazy in the wind! We were sure our Clam would collapse! But no, when it was light out we were shocked and excited to see it still standing even with the crazy winds continuing!! A little icy but still all in one piece. Throughout all of this crazy weather, we have broken only one grommet. My husband did use additional stakes.
As for the set up- it was fairly easy! We had watched a YouTube video so had an idea what to do. It was water resistant unless we opened the screens for the wind! It’s sturdiness was crazy in the conditions it has been put under— it is an interesting technology— as the wind whipped through it the top bounced up and down allowing it to have “give” which seemed to Allow it to fare better in the wind. With the beating this tent has taken, it’s earned its 5 star rating on just this trip!
